As a new breeder of high quality warmbloods, Jeff and Ruth Ann Olson are the owners of Lillabondgard Farm. They take pride in offering the best young dressage prospects possible. They are dedicated to serving the needs of their customers, both amateur and professional dressage riders and enthusiasts, and they continually seek to improve their breeding and training practices. Laura Ware, ( http://www.laurawaredressage.com ) a long-time friend, advisor, and trainer, has been a consultant to the breeding program from its inception. She has helped the Olson's acquire their mares, select stallions and school and show the youngsters.
Our 2014 foal is Primavera Tempesta
She was born May 10th in the middle of a late spring snow storm to Prima Donna and is by the Hanoverian stallion Benidetto. http://walnutfarmhanoverians.com/our_stallion_benidetto
When the sun came up she greeted the morning...
And a few days later she got to stretch her legs outdoors for the first time.
Tempi has been designated a Primium Foal by the Oldenburg Verband.
She won 2014 Fillies and Champion 2014 foal at Autumn Hill Dressage with a score of 75.5.
And she won 2014 Fillies and Champion 2014 foal at Dressage in the Rockies with a score of 82.0!
Our 2013 foal, Bella Speranza, a filly born to Firenze on June 26.
Bella is a joy! She was born quite late, but made it to two shows in 2013 in spite of that. She is now a yearling and she is showing for the first time without Mum along for moral support. Below she is shown at Autumn Hill Dressage where she won yearling fillies and filly Champion with a score of 79.9!
In the photograph below she is shown at Dressage in the Rockies, where she won yearling fillies and Filly Champion with a score of 78.1
Our mares are the strength of our breeding program and the pride of the farm. We currently have three brood mares and our filly, Bella, is also a very good breeding prospect.
Below is Prajna, by Rodioso ( http://rodioso.com ) and out of Prima Donna, a Donnerwerth/Frulingsrausch mare. A registered Oldenburg, Prajna was the 2011 Rocky Mountain Dressage Society Sport Horse In-Hand Weanling Horse of the Year. She was also the 2011 Reserve Champion Filly. She won both classes we entered her in as a yearling in 2012, but sadly could not participate in championships due to an injury. In 2013 she was ranked nationally and continued to mature and grow. Her gaits are beautiful, her conformation lovely, and her temperament is wonderful. She is intelligent and immensely trainable.
Prajna as a two-year-old in 2013
Prajna is now three years old and stands 15'0" hh. We have continued to work on her conditioning and ground manners and this year we have included her in our breeding program by breeding her to Highlife's Burberry, an approved German Riding Pony stallion. http://www.germanridingpony.com/burberry.html She will have this first foal in April 2015.
Our oldest mare is Prima Donna. She is a seventeen-year-old liver chestnut Oldenburg mare standing 15'2" hh. She is a proven brood mare, having produced four foals to date. She was bred outside of Seattle, Washington and shown by both a professional and an amateur rider in Colorado. She is by Donnerwerth, out of a Frulingsrausch mare. She is shown below in 2011 with Prajna at her side.
Firenze is our younger mature mare. She is a 16'0" hh, nine-year-old grey Swedish mare by Florencio I out of a De Niro mare. She was bred in Sweden and imported, in-utero, to the United States. She was ranked nationally as a foal in 2005 and was shown successfully in-hand in Colorado as a six-year-old. She delivered her first foal, by Benidetto ( http://walnutfarmhanoverians.com/our_stallion_benidetto ) , in June of 2013.
At the 2013 Hanoverian inspection in Colorado, Firenze was awarded a score of 7.5 - the second highest score in the nation for a Non-Hanoverian mare!
She is bred this year to a young, local Holsteiner stallion named Indiana Jones.
